Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Monday that the national capital will see even more development in the coming days. She credited the Central government for actively supporting the city’s infrastructure growth. According to her, both the Centre and the Delhi government are now working “shoulder to shoulder.”

CM Gupta and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri together inaugurated an exhibition that marked two milestones — 11 years of the NDA government and 100 days of her own government in Delhi.

Speaking to the media, Gupta expressed her satisfaction and said, “Today, I am very happy that the Central Government has completed 11 years and the Delhi Government has completed 100 days, and the way the double-engine government has started working in Delhi is commendable.” She also pointed out that while the Centre had always contributed a lot to Delhi’s development, the earlier government failed to acknowledge or appreciate that support.

Highlighting the recent collaboration, Gupta said the Centre helped Delhi build high-quality infrastructure. She specifically mentioned, “Through roadways alone, we received support worth Rs 1.25 lakh crore.” She added that central schemes like Ayushman Bharat, which were previously not implemented in Delhi, are now being put in place. The state has also opened new Arogya Mandirs (health centres) as part of this renewed cooperation. “In every project, the Centre is working shoulder to shoulder with Delhi,” Gupta added.

She also took a dig at the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, noting that earlier there was a lot of blame-shifting. In contrast, things are now more organised. She promised greater improvements in key areas like air pollution, cleaning the Yamuna river, waste management, and access to water and electricity. “There will be more progress and better work done on all fronts,” she said.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri described the current political arrangement as a “triple-engine” government — one at the Centre, another in Delhi, and the third in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). He stated this structure is now well-equipped to fulfill development goals. Reflecting on Delhi’s growth, he said, “I’ve seen Delhi evolve since just after partition, when the city’s population was around 11-12 lakh. After successive waves of migration, the population has now crossed over 2 crore.”

He added that now, with PM Modi’s 11 years of leadership and strong support from local authorities, there should be no more excuses. “We must now deliver on the promises of development and ensure Delhi gets what it rightfully deserves. When PM Modi took charge in 2014, India’s GDP was 2 trillion dollars. Today, it has reached 4 trillion dollars,” Puri said.

A day earlier, CM Gupta spoke from Karnal, Haryana, where she said she was confident that the Haryana government would continue helping Delhi grow. She remarked, “I believe that Delhi will keep getting full cooperation from the state of Haryana.” She also took a swipe at Punjab, saying, “Some forces are acting like an eclipse on the state of Punjab, which is why neither Punjab is able to develop nor maintain proper coordination with other states.”

On Saturday, CM Gupta chaired a high-level meeting aimed at improving the city’s real estate system. Her goal, according to an official statement, is to make the system more transparent, efficient, and focused on development.
