Nearly three weeks after businessman Arun Lohia was fatally shot inside his SUV near Chhatarpur Metro Station, Delhi Police arrested two suspects, Deepak and Yogesh, during an early morning encounter along the Chirag Delhi–Khanpur stretch.

Both suspects got injured in the shootout and currently are in custody at AIIMS Trauma Centre. Police also arrested the third accused, Ajay near Asian Market in Pushp Vihar. He was found with a country-made pistol and three live cartridges. A separate case has also been filed against him.

Businessman Arun Lohia Shot in Traffic

Arun Lohia, a 40-year-old resident of Aya Nagar and owner of multiple warehouses, was attacked on May 15 while returning from Saket Court with his father. Two assailants opened fire on their SUV while it was stuck in traffic, fatally wounding him.

The murder was traced back to a long-standing property dispute, which had previously led to legal and physical confrontations. Lohia himself had been booked for attempted murder in April 2024 in connection with the same dispute.

Delhi Police Track Down Suspects

Deputy Commissioner of police (South) Ankit Chauhan assigned the case to a team led by Inspector Umesh Yadav of the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS). The team tracked the suspects using CCTV footage. On Thursday at around 3 am, police received a tip-off and located the duo on a motorcycle near Chirag Delhi.

When signaled to stop, the suspects tried to flee, lost control of the bike during a sharp U-turn, and opened fire. One bullet struck the bulletproof vest of a constable. Police retaliated, injuring both suspects in the legs.

Police Gets Confession, Shut Case

The duo later confessed to the murder and led officers to the weapons used — a Chinese Star .25 mm automatic pistol, a 9 mm pistol, several rounds of live and empty cartridges, and the motorcycle.

Police arrested Ajay Lohia, the third accused, near Pushp Vihar with a country-made pistol and three live catridges. They have filed a separate case against him. Authorities confirmed the suspects had prior criminal records. They were involved in a violent altercation with Arun Lohia in 2023, which was followed by an unsuccessful panchayat intervention.
