In Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, authorities demolished the home and an eatery owned by a rape accused in a dramatic move that locals have likened to the “bulldozer justice model” seen in Uttar Pradesh. The action was carried out under police and administrative supervision on Thursday, June 5, 2025.

Police On The Matter

The accused had reportedly been on the run since the rape incident occurred in the Turki police station area of Kurhani sub-division. According to SP (Rural) Muzaffarpur, Vidya Sagar, the accused had been evading arrest until recently.
“We had attached the properties of the accused, who had been absconding ever since he raped a girl in the neighbourhood. Today, earth-mover machines were brought in and needful action was taken in the operation, which was led by Sub Divisional Magistrate (West) Shreya Shri,” said Sagar.

Following the demolition, the accused surrendered to the police. SP Vidya Sagar added, “The accused, who had been dodging the police, has surrendered. Further action will be taken as per directions of the court.”

The Situation In Bihar Surrounding This Incident

This crackdown came shortly after Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha visited Muzaffarpur and promised firm steps against the culprits in this case, as well as another one involving the sexual assault and death of a minor Dalit girl. These back-to-back incidents have sparked widespread outrage and criticism of the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government.

Locals in the area believe that this strong response by the administration sends a clear message. “The action against the accused should serve as a reminder to all those who have a propensity for committing heinous offences. They will not be able to escape the long arms of law,” Sagar added.

The incident has reignited debates around justice delivery, especially the increasing trend of using bulldozers as a symbol of swift punishment for serious crimes.
