In a hint at ending long-standing conflicts between the Delhi government and Lieutenant Governor, the recently elected BJP-led government in Delhi has started withdrawing a number of court cases, sources said.
The withdrawn cases pertain to matters concerning the chairman of the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC), Delhi Jal Board funding, appointment of lawyers for Delhi riots cases, training of teachers abroad, and the high-level committee on Yamuna pollution.
During the AAP government of the past, under Arvind Kejriwal and Aatishi, the Delhi government frequently came into conflict with Lieutenant Governors Najeeb Jung, Anil Baijal, and VK Saxena on a number of issues. Most of these conflicts went to court. The Lieutenant Governor was accused by Kejriwal and Aatishi of deliberately stalling the implementation of their policies, while the LG alleged that the AAP government was not assisting him.
