A Bengaluru man, 22, has been arrested for reportedly killing his girlfriend in Goa, although he had reportedly taken her there to marry her.

The suspect, Sanjay Kevin M, a North Bengaluru resident, allegedly murdered his partner, Roshni Moses M, 22, after an altercation. Roshni, an employee of a Karnataka school, hailed from the same area as Kevin, who is jobless.

Authorities discovered Roshni’s body about 100 metres off the road inside Mollem Wildlife Sanctuary. Her throat had been slit and she had suffered multiple injuries, suspected to be caused by a sharp weapon.

A local farmer, who had gone to search for bibem (sprouted cashew nuts), came across the body on Monday morning and immediately alerted the police.

South Goa Superintendent of Police Tikam Singh Verma confirmed, “The accused and the victim were in a relationship, and it seems to be some personal relationship issue that triggered this.” Kevin believed that Roshni was being unfaithful to him, police said.

India Today quoted police authorities stating, “They had come to Goa from Bengaluru to marry. But for some reason or other, there was a quarrel between the two, and two days back Sanjay murdered Roshni and dumped the body in the forest.”

Investigation further discovered that the pair had come from Bengaluru to Goa on a Kadamba Transport Corporation bus, with the plan of staying overnight in the coastal state. Nonetheless, due to reasons that are yet to be determined, they disembarked at a secluded area.

An update in the case was provided by a bus ticket discovered among the woman’s items, leading police to Kevin since the ticket was booked under his name.

Kevin was finally tracked and arrested in Hubli, Karnataka, on Tuesday and brought to Goa for interrogation.
