Bees Swarm IndiGo Flight in Surat, Delay Jaipur Departure by 1 Hour

An IndiGo flight to Jaipur from Surat encountered a sudden delay on Monday when a group of bees enveloped the luggage door of the plane. This situation resulted in more than an hour-long delay, causing passengers on board and ground crew to be at loss and worried.

Bees Surround Luggage Door, Trigger Emergency Response

Passengers had already embarked on IndiGo flight 6E-7267 at Surat International Airport when bees started congregating around the plane’s luggage door. Footage of the unusual occurrence is now viral, depicting dozens of bees adhering to the plane as others flew over it.

The airport staff first attempted to chase away the bees with smoke, said eyewitnesses.

Fire Engine Called to Disperse Bees

With the swarm unwilling to move, authorities summoned a fire truck to douse water over the infected area. It ultimately chased the bees away, enabling staff to continue with essential checks.

The luggage door was kept open at the time of the incident, making the plane unsafe for flight as planned.

Flight Takes Off After Clearance After Delay

After the area was cleared and after securing proper clearance, the flight took off from Surat at 5:26 PM — over an hour behind schedule from the planned time of 4:20 PM, as reported by a Patrika report.

In spite of the delay, the flight took off without any injuries or other problems reported.
