Raipur, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday presided over two key meetings in Raipur on Naxalism and met the relatives of a police officer who was martyred in an IED blast, officials added. He said that the nation will be Naxal-free by March 31, 2026, an official statement added.
Amit Shah Holds Inter-State Coordination and LWE Review Meetings
Shah chaired his first Inter-State Security Coordination Meeting on Naxalism with Director Generals of Police and Additional DGPs and top officials of seven states Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Odisha. The second was a review meeting on the Left Wing Extremism situation in Chhattisgarh, it said.
Reiterating that there would be no let-up in the momentum gained by security forces, Shah added the anti-Naxal operations would continue even in the rains.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, and a few other top officials of Central Armed Police Forces joined the meeting at a hotel in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar.
Amit Shah Lauds State Government and Security Forces
Shah has commended the Sai government for providing a new thrust to a “previously stalled” anti-Naxal campaign and charting, apart from an added morale boost for security forces, it added.
Deputy CM Sharma subsequently informed mediapersons that the Union minister went through all the problems and discussed gaining momentum for the campaign in the monsoon.
Amit Shah Meets Martyr’s Family, Cancels BSF Camp Visit
Shah also met the relatives of Additional Superintendent of Police Akash Rao Girepunje, who lost his life when an IED set by Maoists detonated in Sukma district on June 9, and assured them of every possible help, he added.
When questioned regarding Shah’s planned visit to a Border Security Force camp in Narayanpur district of Bastar division on Monday, Sharma replied, “There are forecasts for rain tomorrow and therefore the tour is not likely to happen.”
A group of security force commanders has been summoned in Raipur. “Shah ji may meet them in Raipur,” he added.
Layed Foundation Stones for Forensic Institutions
Earlier today, Shah laid the foundation stones of the campus of National Forensic Science University and a Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Chhattisgarh’s Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. He also inaugurated online the transit campus of NFSU in Raipur.
Shah explained that Naxalites will not find relief during monsoon as operations against them will go on in rains, though he disallowed talks and urged the ultras to surrender arms and take the path of development.
Gunned down since last January, over 400 Maoist ultras by security forces in individual encounters in the state, the most significant being Bastar’s killing on May 21 of Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavaraju, general secretary and highest functioning member of proscribed Communist Party of India.
