Uttar Pradesh shock in a chilling crime. A woman, Muskan Rastogi, and her lover, Sahik Shukla reportedly killed Rastogi’s merchant navy officer husband Saurabh Rajput. After the heinous crime, they dumped the body in a drum filled with cement. The killer is said to have chopped off the body of Saurabh into 15 pieces and buried the pieces in a cement-filled drum to cover up the crime. This came to light when a neighbor complained about the foul smell in the building.
Discovery of the Crime
The body of 29-year-old Saurabh Rajput was found on Tuesday in his rented flat in Indiranagar Phase 2, Brahmpuri, Meerut. The police received a tip-off regarding the foul smell and found his severed body in a water drum filled with cement.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ayush Vikram Singh said, “Police received a tip-off about a foul smell emanating from the victim’s house. Upon investigation, we found his body chopped into multiple pieces and sealed inside a water drum filled with cement, presumable to hasten decomposition.”
Police have sent the body pieces to post-mortem, and a case has been lodged based on a complaint filed by the victim’s relatives.
A Cold-Blooded Plot
Police say Rajput’s wife, Muskan, and her boyfriend, Sahil, murdered him on March 4. Rastogi is said to have laced Rajput’s food with sleeping pills, and once he was asleep, the couple stabbed him to death. Later Sahil cut his body into pieces and packed it in a drum filled with cement.
To keep away from suspicion, Muskan was using Rajput’s phone, attending to messages from his family members and even posting social media updates. The two later went to Manali, and posted photos on Saurabh’s social media accounts to mislead his friends and family.
Family’s Suspicion Leads to Arrest
Though Rastogi tried to hide the murder, Saurabh’s family became suspicious when he kept dodging their calls. Worried about his safety, they approached the police with a missing complaint, which led to the horrific find.
The two were arrested and charged with murder and tampering with evidence. They will be presented in court on Wednesday.
A Marriage That Ended in Tragedy
Saurabh and Muskan got married in 2016 against their family’s wishes. Rajput quit his work with the Merchant Navy to stay with his wife. Family issues did not let them be together for long, and they shifted to a rented apartment. The couple welcomed a daughter in 2019.
Troubles deepened when Saurabh discovered Muskan’s affair with Sahil Shukla. Although divorce was discussed, Rajput ultimately chose to stay for the sake of their child. In 2023, he rejoined the Merchant Navy and moved abroad for work. Upon returning home in February 2025 to celebrate his daughter’s sixth birthday, he met his tragic fate.
