Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto, 53, finds himself at the center of a growing storm. On June 7, Air Mail published an exposé where nine women came forward alleging Leto engaged in a pattern of sexual misconduct, some claiming they were minors during their interactions with him.
“It’s been an open secret for a long time,” said one anonymous woman to Air Mail. The report outlines disturbing claims including Leto asking explicit questions to a 16-year-old, walking out nude in front of a 17-year-old, and allegedly forcing an 18-year-old to touch him.
Alleged Victims Break Their Silence
Model Laura La Rue, who was 16 when she met Leto at a 2008 charity event, said he invited her to his studio via email. She recalled him allegedly ‘flirting’ with her during an April 2009 visit and walking out nude like it was no big deal. “I thought maybe this was just what adult men do,” she told Air Mail. Leto’s team refuted this, claiming there was ‘nothing sexual or inappropriate’ and that La Rue even applied to be his personal assistant, something she denies.
Another woman stated she was 16 when Leto approached her at a Los Angeles café and took her number. She said he called her days later in the middle of the night, speaking in the ‘weirdest, grossest voice’. She added, “I didn’t know if he was on drugs.”
Leto’s Camp Responds
In a statement to Air Mail, Leto’s representative said the actor ‘expressly denies all allegations’.
While no criminal charges have been filed, the accusations have reignited discussions around accountability and power dynamics in Hollywood.
