Hugh Jackman Finalizes Divorce After Nearly 3 Decades

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have legally ended their 27-year-long marriage. New York’s Suffolk County Supreme Court finalized and closed their divorce case on June 3, 2025, marking it as “disposed.”

Deborra, 69, filed the divorce petition on May 27 and stated that the split was uncontested and needed only judicial approval. The couple married in 1996 and adopted two children, Oscar and Ava. They adopted their children early on in their marriage.

While the pair initially announced their separation in September 2023, this legal closure confirms the end of their nearly three-decade relationship.

At the time, they said in a joint statement, “We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”

Following the filing, Deborra released her first public remarks. “My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” she shared. She called their separation “a profound wound that cuts deep.”

However, she also expressed hope and resilience. “I believe in a higher power… that God or the universe is always working FOR us,” she said. Deborra added that the painful journey has led her to find “knowledge and wisdom.”

Jackman, 56, has not publicly commented on the finalized divorce. However, earlier this year, he sparked dating rumors with Sutton Foster, his Music Man co-star. The two were seen holding hands in Los Angeles. Foster herself filed for divorce from screenwriter Ted Griffin in October 2024. Rumors suggest the two are dating, and many speculate their relationship triggered their respective divorces.

While the details of their settlement remain private, both Jackman and Furness have remained respectful, staying true to the “amicable” nature of their initial announcement.
