Harrison Ford will not present at the Academy Awards 2025 after being diagnosed with shingles. The 82-year-old actor fell ill on February 29 and, as a result, had to withdraw, according to reports.

Despite this setback, reports confirm that Ford is “doing OK” physically. However, his representatives have not yet issued an official statement.

Ford’s Last Public Appearance Before Diagnosis

Just days before his diagnosis, Ford attended the 2025 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. During the event, he participated in a fun on-stage moment with his Shrinking co-star Jessica Williams. She playfully teased him for chewing food at the wrong time.

Previously, the Academy had announced Ford as one of the presenters for the prestigious event. He was set to join A-list stars such as Gal Gadot, Zoe Saldaña, Andrew Garfield, Samuel L. Jackson, Rachel Zegler, and Dave Bautista.

A Star-Studded Oscars Night

Meanwhile, the Oscars will also feature Whoopi Goldberg’s long-awaited return to the stage after nearly a decade. In addition, the presenter lineup includes Halle Berry, Willem Dafoe, Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez, Cillian Murphy, John Lithgow, and Emma Stone.

Exciting Musical Performances

Moreover, this year’s Oscars promises electrifying performances. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo will deliver a duet from Wicked. Furthermore, Doja Cat, BLACKPINK’s Lisa, and British singer Raye will share the stage for a special act.

Understanding Shingles

Shingles is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which also leads to chickenpox. It results in painful rashes and nerve pain. However, it is not life-threatening. According to the Mayo Clinic (via PageSix), symptoms can persist for weeks or even months.

Ford Stays Active Despite Diagnosis

Despite his health condition, Ford recently told People that he remains in good shape. He continues filming 1923 Season 2 and, impressively, still performs action-heavy scenes, including horseback riding.
