Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to a serious assault charges in London after allegedly attacking a music producer with a bottle inside a crowded nightclub.
This shocking incident was captured on surveillance cameras and has drawn global attention as the Grammy-winning singer now faces a high-profile trial.
Chris Brown Nightclub Assault Caught On Camera
In February 2023, prosecutors claimed that Chris Brown and his friend Omololu Akinlolu, known as “Hoody Baby,” attacked producer Abe Diaw at Tape nightclub in London’s upscale Mayfair area. Brown allegedly struck Diaw several times with a bottle before punching and kicking him.
Surveillance cameras inside the club captured the violent assault in front of numerous witnesses. During Friday’s arraignment at Southwark Crown Court, Brown, wearing a blue suit and glasses, entered a not guilty plea to the charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.
Brown initially faced one count of grievous bodily harm following his arrest in May. However, prosecutors later added two more charges: assault causing actual bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon, the bottle used in the attack.
When asked for his plea to the grievous bodily harm charge, Brown replied, “Not guilty ma’am.” He did not address the additional charges yet and must return to court on July 11, once the European leg of his tour concludes.
Court Dates Set
Following almost a week in jail, authorities released Brown on 5 million pounds bail, allowing him to proceed with his “Breezy Bowl XX” tour. He celebrated his release on Instagram, posting, “FROM THE CAGE TO THE STAGE!!! BREEZYBOWL.” His next court appearance is scheduled for July, with the trial set to begin on October 26, 2026.
The singer, who rose to fame in 2005, has earned two Grammys for best R&B album, first for F.A.M.E. in 2011 and again for 11:11 earlier this year. As his legal battle unfolds, Brown continues his U.K. tour, performing this weekend in London with upcoming shows in Ireland, Scotland, France, and Portugal.
After Europe, he will return to North America in late July, starting with Miami and stopping in Toronto before continuing across the U.S.
