Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” tour stop in Houston took a dramatic turn Saturday night when a stage prop malfunctioned mid-performance. While performing “16 Carriages” at the NRG Stadium, Beyoncé was riding her signature mid-air “flying car” — a fan-favorite prop used to bring her closer to the audience — when it suddenly began to tilt dangerously.
Flying Car Tilts Mid-Show
As the car leaned to one side, fans gasped and screamed, fearing for the superstar’s safety. Beyoncé was safely and swiftly lowered to the ground. Once back on stage, she reassured the crowd. Smiling, she said, “If I ever fall I know y’all would catch me.” Her comment was met with loud cheers and applause from relieved fans.
Her production company, Parkwood, later issued an official statement via Instagram Stories to explain what happened. “Tonight in Houston, at NRG Stadium, a technical mishap caused the flying car… to tilt. She was quickly lowered and no one was injured. The show continued without incident,” the statement read.
Singer Assures Fans After Onstage Mishap
Despite the scary incident, the show carried on as planned. The Houston concert is one of 22 dates on Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” tour. She will next perform in Washington, DC on July 4 and July 7, followed by final shows in Atlanta on July 10 and 11.
Earlier this year, Beyoncé achieved another major milestone in her music career. Her album Cowboy Carter earned her three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, making her the first Black woman to win that category since Lauryn Hill in 1999.
Though Saturday night’s performance briefly rattled the audiences, Beyoncé once again showed her professionalism, resilience, and connection with her fans. As she continues her tour, supporters can likely expect more powerful moments—and hopefully fewer surprises from the stage props.
