Queen Camilla was treated to a warm and tasty tribute on her visit to a school in Rome, where she was given a Margherita pizza to mark her 20th wedding anniversary to King Charles III. The royal pair is on the third day of their state visit to Italy.

When she stopped by a local state school, Queen Camilla was presented with the pizza in the delivery-style box a playful touch that brought some local flair to the celebratory event. Meanwhile, King Charles started his day with an official red-carpet welcome by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the historic 17th-century villa of Villa Doria Pamphili on the outskirts of Rome.

The King and Prime Minister Meloni, both of whom are English speakers, were spotted chatting animatedly as they walked through the palace gardens. A mounted military band offered a ceremonial welcome, the orange trees of the villa and views of St. Peter’s Basilica in the background providing the perfect picturesque setting.

Later on in the day, King Charles will become the first British monarch to speak before both chambers of the Italian parliament. Parts of his speech are set to be read in Italian, emphasizing cultural relations between Italy and the UK.

The evening will witness the royal couple present at a state banquet at the Quirinale Palace, where local fare and an eminent guest list will commemorate their special anniversary.

The visit has been well-received by Italians. On Tuesday, the King and Queen were welcomed by throngs of people near the Colosseum, as chants of “Carlo!” were heard from fans.

In the UK meanwhile, the couple was treated to a musical welcome at Buckingham Palace, where the royal guards sang Madness’s number It Must Be Love in commemoration of the royal anniversary.
