Marius Borg Høiby, Son of Norwegian Princess, Charged With Rape & Bodily Harm

Marius Borg Høiby, the 28-year-old son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit and stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, has been officially charged with numerous serious criminal offences. These include rape, sexual assault, and bodily harm, Oslo police confirmed Friday.

The charges follow a months-long probe that started after Høiby’s arrest in 2024 on initial allegations of assault and rape. Oslo authorities upgraded the case on Friday by filing formal charges against him on multiple counts.

Double-Digit Number of Alleged Victims by Høiby

Police today revealed the case has a “double-digit” number of victims, although they refused to give exact numbers. Oslo Police Attorney Andreas Kruszewski said that Høiby had been fully cooperative during questioning and that investigators had amassed considerable evidence, including eyewitness accounts, text messages, and material obtained from police raids.

“The formal charges include one count of rape involving intercourse, two counts of rape without intercourse, four counts of sexual assault, and two counts of bodily harm,” Kruszewski announced.

He added, “I can confirm that the number of victims in the case is a double-digit figure, but I cannot provide further details.”

Defence Denies Most Allegations

Høiby’s attorney, Petar Sekulic, responded to the charges via email, telling the Associated Press, “Høiby takes the charges seriously,” but said his client denies the majority of the allegations, especially the sexual abuse and violence claims.

The Norwegian Royal Palace refused to comment on the issue, referring to legal procedure. The palace, as reported by Norwegian news agency NTB, stated that the case would go through normal legal procedures.

Norwegian media previously referred to Høiby affectionately as “Little Marius,” and the royal family raised him, though he has lived apart in recent years. The court has granted him bail, and authorities presume him innocent until proven guilty.

Previous Battles with Drug Abuse

Marius Borg Høiby openly admitted previous battles with cocaine abuse. His biological father, Morton Borg, is also a convicted criminal and previously spent time in prison for drug and violent crimes.

The case will proceed with additional court hearings in the next few months.
