French President Emmanuel Macron has issued a stern warning to Russia, calling for “strong action” if it continues to reject peace negotiations. His statement came just two days after a deadly missile attack on the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rig killed 20 people, including nine children.
The youngest victim was a three-year-old boy, and the missile struck a residential area near a children’s playground, adding to the horror.
Macron Speaks Out on Social Media
On Sunday, Macron posted in both French and Ukrainian on social platform X (formerly Twitter), saying:
“My thoughts are with the children and all civilian victims of the bloody attacks carried out by Russia, including on April 4 in Kryvyi Rig.”
He emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire and warned of taking “strong action” if Russia continues to “buy time and refuse peace.”
International Peace Efforts Ignored
Despite efforts by the United States, including a proposal by President Donald Trump for a complete ceasefire, and continuing peace efforts by European nations, Macron said Russia is escalating the war, showing no concern for civilians.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed this on Sunday, stating that Moscow has intensified its aerial attacks, including a massive missile and drone assault overnight that killed two more civilians.
“Pressure on Russia is Insufficient”: Zelensky
Zelensky added that Russia’s brutality continues unchecked, urging the global community to increase pressure.
“The pressure on Russia is still insufficient,” he stated.
With children becoming the latest victims of this relentless conflict, calls for decisive international response are growing louder.
