France, Egypt, Jordan to Meet in Cairo Over Gaza Emergency

French President Emmanuel Macron announced that he will participate in a three-way summit with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II to discuss the worsening humanitarian and security situation in Gaza.

Macron Confirms Summit on Social Media

Macron shared the announcement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), writing:
“In response to the Gaza emergency and during my visit to Egypt at President al-Sisi’s invitation, we will hold a trilateral summit with the Egyptian president and the King of Jordan.” His statement came shortly before he left for Cairo.

Israeli Offensive Escalates After Ceasefire Collapse

The summit comes amid heightened tensions in the region. A short-lived truce between Israel and Hamas recently ended, leading to increased military action by Israel in Gaza. Israel says its goal is to pressure Hamas to release hostages who are still being held.

In addition to strikes in Gaza, Israel has also intensified its military operations in Lebanon and Syria, further expanding the scope of the conflict.

Key Meetings Scheduled in Cairo

President Macron is expected to arrive in Cairo on Sunday evening. He will meet with President al-Sisi on Monday morning. According to the French president’s office, the trilateral summit with King Abdullah II will take place later that same day in the Egyptian capital.

During these talks, the leaders are likely to discuss ways to reduce violence and improve humanitarian conditions in Gaza.

Macron to Visit Aid Hub Near Gaza

On Tuesday, Macron plans to travel to El-Arish, a city located roughly 50 kilometers from the Gaza border. This Egyptian city serves as a key hub for international aid heading into the Gaza Strip.

There, Macron will meet with both humanitarian workers and security personnel. His visit aims to underline France’s support for a ceasefire and its role in humanitarian relief efforts.
