Actor Sunny Deol has officially confirmed that he will portray Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious film Ramayana. In a recent interview, Deol shared that filming would begin soon and admitted he was both excited and nervous to take on the divine role.

“Definitely, I’m playing the role and it will be exciting and fun. I’m going to be shooting very shortly. I think it’s going to be great and beautiful. As a matter of fact, after this, I’m going to go and watch a little bit of what they’ve done,” Sunny said.

He also confessed, “Nervousness and fear are always there, but that’s the beauty of it because you have to find within you how will you take up the challenge.”

Speaking about the scale of Ramayana, Sunny said he’s confident in the production team. “I am sure the producers are doing a great job as they are going to bring out the supernatural things properly on the screen. I keep my fingers crossed and hope that they are nothing less than what Hollywood has,” he said.

“Ramayan has been made so many times, and when this film comes on the screen and the way all the actors are involved in it, I’m sure they’ll do justice to the epic, and people will be satisfied and they will enjoy the film.”

Deol also spoke highly of co-star Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Ram in the film. “I think it’s going to be great because he’s such a fine actor. He always commits fully to any project he takes up,” he added.

Sunny Talks Lahore 1947 and Aamir Khan’s Involvement

Before Ramayana, Sunny is also working on Lahore 1947, a long-anticipated film with director Rajkumar Santoshi. He shared that Aamir Khan approached him to produce the movie.

“This subject has been with Raj and me for many years. We had been trying to make a film on this for many years, but it wasn’t happening. After Gadar 2, it became possible,” Sunny said. “Aamir came to me straight away and told me that he would want to do this film, and I was very happy.”

Ramayana reportedly has a budget of ₹835 crore and stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, and Yash.
