Sunjay Kapur, an industrialist and Chairman of Sona Comstar, was previously married to actress Karisma Kapoor. The couple have two children — a daughter, Samaira, born in 2005, and a son, Kiaan, born in 2011.

In 2014, they filed for divorce by mutual agreement. Their marriage legally ended in 2016. After the split, Sunjay married Priya Sachdev.

Businessman and friend Suhel Seth confirmed the tragic news to ANI on Thursday. He revealed that Sunjay had suffered a fatal heart attack in England, reportedly after swallowing a bee during a polo match.

Suhel also posted a heartfelt message on his X (formerly Twitter) account, writing, “Deeply saddened at the passing of @sunjaykapur: he passed away earlier today in England: a terrible loss and deepest condolences to his family and to his colleagues @sonacomstar…Om Shanti.”

On Friday, Sona Comstar officially announced Sunjay’s death in a tribute on X. They wrote, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Mr. Sunjay J Kapur, Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Sona Comstar, following a sudden heart attack in England, UK, on 12th June 2025, at the age of 53.”

The company praised Sunjay for his leadership and vision. They called him a guiding force behind the company’s success, “A visionary leader, Mr. Kapur played a pivotal role in shaping Sona Comstar into a global mobility technology company built on innovation, sustainability, and purpose. In a tragic twist, just hours before his death, Sunjay had posted a message on social media expressing sorrow over the Air India crash in Ahmedabad. His post read, “Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected.
