Over the years, Shilpa Shetty has cemented her place as a beloved figure in Bollywood. Audiences know her for her acting, fitness influence, and charisma both on and off screen.

But while most fans continue to associate her with films and wellness, Shetty has been quietly making waves in a completely different industry: the world of fine dining and hospitality. What started as a casual interest and a “side hustle” has now grown into a thriving business empire that spans multiple cities and cuisines.

In a candid conversation, Shilpa opened up about her unexpected journey as a restaurateur. “Hospitality was my Plan B,” she said with a smile, “but Plan A (acting) is also going good. But Plan B is mind-blowing.”

From hosting celebrity weddings to earning top revenue rankings, Shilpa’s restaurants have become some of the most talked-about destinations in India’s upscale dining scene. As her business grows, it’s clear that Shetty’s “Plan B” may be one of the smartest moves in her already accomplished career.

Shilpa Shetty: Journey into Food & Fame

She revealed how she and her husband Raj Kundra fell in love with Bastian in Bandra. Raj’s connection with Bastian founder Ranjit Bindra led them to invest when the brand wanted to expand.

“We started with one Bastian, and now we have six. We have them in Mumbai – Bandra, Dadar, Worli. We have another restaurant Inka, which is a Peruvian-Asian restaurant, and another one – Bondie. We have one restaurant in Pune and we are opening two in Goa. I think we have more than six restaurants,” she said.

Massive Revenue & Celebrity Hotspot

Bastian isn’t just a restaurant—it’s now a cultural landmark. Known for its luxe interiors and A-list clientele, the chain has even hosted Bollywood weddings like that of Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal.

Some reports peg Shilpa’s net worth at over ₹134 crore, with monthly earnings of ₹4–5 crore from the Bastian group alone. The actress, however, laughs off the numbers. “They’re all wrong and their numbers are totally wrong. We’re making much more than that (laughs),” she told the interviewer.

She proudly added, “Last time we paid the highest GST for the hospitality! My managers tell me they get more calls to book seats in Bastian than for my work.”
