Actor Sanjay Dutt, who has spent over 40 years in the film industry, recently made a candid confession. Despite his long list of iconic performances in films like Vaastav, Munna Bhai MBBS, and Agneepath, his children don’t consider him their favorite actor. Dutt, 65, shares twins Shahraan and Iqra with his third wife, Manyata Dutt. The couple welcomed them in 2010.
“They Like Tiger Shroff” – Dutt on His Kids’ Movie Choices
In an interview with The Times of India, Sanjay revealed that his teenage children admire today’s younger stars. When asked if his kids wanted to enter the movie business, he said they do enjoy films but have other interests too. “They do watch movies, but I am not their favourite actor and that’s okay (laughs). They like Tiger Shroff and the younger lot, which is good.”
The actor shared that he advises his children to focus on their studies first. He wants them to complete their education and attend university before thinking about joining the film industry or choosing another profession.
Stepping Into the South: Dutt’s New Film Projects
Sanjay Dutt is now exploring South Indian cinema. He is set to appear in the Telugu movie The RajaSaab alongside Prabhas, and in the Kannada film KD – The Devil. The latter features a star-studded cast including Dhruva Sarja, Reeshma Nanaiah, Shilpa Shetty, and Nora Fatehi.

Talking about his experience with South Indian filmmakers, Sanjay praised their love for mass entertainers. “It’s a great place to be in,” he said. He explained that South filmmakers continue to follow storytelling traditions that once defined Bollywood, “Their sensibility of cinema is what we have had all our lives – to cater to the masses, to enhance the hero on screen and to do all that which I think Bollywood has forgotten to do now.” He said he enjoyed working with South Indian teams because they are passionate about storytelling. According to him, t his passion is what Bollywood needs to rediscover.

Sanjay feels that Hindi cinema must revisit its golden era to win back the audience. “I wish these kinds of films were back as this is exactly what we are lacking today. We should just go back to our roots.”

Sanjay Dutt has remained active on screen with two recent roles. He starred in The Bhootnii, a horror comedy directed by Sidhaant Sachdev, and also played a police officer in Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5.
