Director Nitesh Tiwari is gearing up for one of India’s biggest films. He cast Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita in the upcoming Ramayana trilogy.

According to Bollywood Hungama, this film could become the costliest Indian film ever. Reportedly, the budget may go up to ₹835 crore. A source explained, “The film requires 600 days of post-production work, which in itself speaks volumes about the investment required to create some of the most original visuals.”

Star-Studded Cast Expected

Meanwhile, a report from The Siasat Daily shared a potential list of cast members. Though the official confirmation is pending, the lineup includes:

  • Ranbir Kapoor – Lord Ram

  • Sai Pallavi – Sita

  • Yash – Ravana

  • Sunny Deol – Hanuman

  • Ravi Dubey – Lakshman

  • Lara Dutta – Kaikeyi

  • Rakul Preet Singh – Shurpanakha

  • Kajal Aggarwal – Mandodari

  • Amitabh Bachchan – Jatayu

  • Anil Kapoor – King Janak (rumoured)

  • Mohit Raina – Lord Shiva

  • Vikrant Massey – Meghnad

  • Kunal Kapoor – Lord Indra

  • Vivek Oberoi – Vidyutjihva

Budget Dispute Sparks Debate

However, some insiders challenge the ₹835 crore claim. One source clarified, “These are inflated figures being planted to generate curiosity.”

In fact, the actual budget may range between ₹500 and ₹550 crore. The source added, “Anything beyond that would be fatal for the project.”

Filmmakers Aim for Visual Brilliance with Caution

Despite the grand vision, the team is cautious. They want to present the most lavish Ramayana on screen. At the same time, they plan to keep costs within a recoverable limit.

The source noted, “They also want to make sure they don’t assign a budget that would be impossible to recover.”
