Following the sudden death of industrialist Sunjay Kapur due to a heart attack, his sister Mandhira Kapur has written an emotional note on Instagram, reflecting on their strained relationship and the pain of unresolved issues.
‘A Silly Sibling Squabble Kept Us Apart’
In her moving tribute, Mandhira shared a collection of childhood photographs and admitted that she and Sunjay had not spoken for the last four years. She revealed, “A silly sibling squabble escalated to unbelievable levels due to egos and natural bullishness.”
Despite their long silence, she expressed that the bond they shared for most of their lives still holds meaning. “That will never take away what we were and what we had,” she wrote.
Regret Over Lost Time
Mandhira recalled how Sunjay always cared for her and their sister, calling him a “true big brother and a friend.” She described the fallout between them as “horrible and pointless” and mourned the moments they would never get back.
“We will never be ‘us,’ and it is devastating that we didn’t fix what had become broken,” she added. Yet, she held on to the belief that love remained between them, saying, “I am sure he knew, despite our recent estrangement, that I loved him… I take some small comfort.”
Sunjay Kapur’s Sudden Death and Final Rites
Sunjay Kapur, a well-known name in India’s automotive industry and Chairman of Sona Comstar, passed away unexpectedly during a polo match in England. According to family friend and actor Suhel Seth, a bee sting during the game may have triggered the cardiac arrest.
His last rites were held on June 19 at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground (Dayanand Muktidham) in Delhi, attended by close family members and friends.
