After weeks of rumours, it’s now official — ‘Cocktail 2’ will start filming this August. The sequel comes thirteen years after the original hit film, with Homi Adajania returning as director. This time, the lead roles will be played by Kriti Sanon, Shahid Kapoor, and Rashmika Mandanna.
The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and written by Luv Ranjan. The team is aiming to release the film in theatres in the second half of 2026.
Script Tease and Hints of Preps
On Friday, celebrity stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania, who is also Homi Adajania’s wife, shared a sneak peek of the Cocktail 2 script on her Instagram Story. Around the same time, Kriti Sanon was spotted leaving Maddock Films’ Mumbai office, suggesting that preparations are already underway.
A New Trio, Familiar Chemistry
This marks the second collaboration between Kriti and Shahid after their successful 2024 film ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’. Now, with Rashmika Mandanna joining the cast, fans are eager to see the chemistry between the three stars in this fresh story about modern love and friendship.
The filmmakers haven’t revealed the plot yet. However, the casting and genre hint at a contemporary romance with emotional twists.
The Legacy of the First ‘Cocktail’
The original ‘Cocktail’ (2012) starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty. It gained praise for its modern storytelling, stylish music, and honest take on urban relationships. Deepika Padukone’s performance especially stood out and helped establish her as a top actress in Bollywood.
What the Cast Is Up To
While ‘Cocktail 2’ enters pre-production, its lead stars are juggling multiple films. Kriti Sanon recently finished shooting ‘Tere Ishk Mein’ with Dhanush, which will release on November 28. She’s also rumoured to be part of ‘Don 3’ with Ranveer Singh.
Shahid Kapoor is currently working on a period film directed by Arjun Ustara. The film also features Triptii Dimri and Randeep Hooda. Rashmika Mandanna, last seen in ‘Kuberaa’, has a packed schedule with films like ‘Mysaa’, ‘The Girlfriend’, ‘Thama’, and ‘Animal Park’.
