Actor Bhumi Pednekar is facing heavy trolling after her new web series The Royals released on Netflix. Viewers have criticised not just the show but also her appearance. In particular, many people online are commenting on her lips and suggesting she had a cosmetic procedure.
An Old Interview Resurfaces
As the backlash grew, an old interview clip from 2017 started trending on Reddit. In the video, Bhumi confidently responds to similar remarks made in the past. She was speaking with Rajkummar Rao and Ayushmann Khurrana in a chat with Anupama Chopra.
In the clip, she says, “You know the most bizarre thing that somebody actually told me was that ‘your lips are too big’.” She added, “I said since when is that a problem? I mean people pay in lakhs of money to get that done… They can say the most bizarre things. You should just be aware of what you are and not care.”
At that time, all three actors were sharing awkward experiences from the start of their careers. Rajkummar and Ayushmann recalled how their eyebrows had become an issue.
Bhumi’s New Show Gets Lukewarm Response
Currently, Bhumi stars opposite Ishaan Khatter in The Royals. The series premiered on May 9 on Netflix. It was created by Rangita Pritish Nandy and Ishita Pritish Nandy. However, the audience gave mixed reactions. Many said the show lacks chemistry between the leads. Others called the screenplay weak and superficial.
Trolling Intensifies Over Bhumi’s Lips
Soon after the show’s release, Bhumi’s lips became a trending topic. For instance, one user commented, “Her lips are doing more acting than her in The Royals.” Another said, “In recent times it looks like her lips have a personality and screen presence rather than her.”
Still, Bhumi’s old response reflects her self-assurance. Despite repeated trolling, she remains unfazed and confident about her appearance.
