Amitabh Hails Abhishek’s Grit, Praises Bold Acting Choices

Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has penned an emotional blog post expressing deep admiration for his son Abhishek Bachchan, not only as a son but also as an accomplished actor.

“He Earned It by Merit”

In his blog shared on Saturday, the iconic ‘Sholay’ star reflected on Abhishek’s journey in the film industry. Amitabh opened the post with a quote from his father, legendary poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan:
“My sons, just because you are my sons, shall not be my inheritors; they who shall be my inheritors, shall be my sons.”

He used the quote to make a powerful point—Abhishek had not inherited pride just by being his son, but by proving himself.
“He has dared to take on films and characters that challenged him, and he ‘acted’,” Amitabh wrote, adding, “He dared to act and be recognized.” His words reflected both pride and admiration.

Praising His Upcoming Film

Earlier that day, Amitabh also showed support for Abhishek’s upcoming film ‘Kaalidhar Laapata’ on X (formerly Twitter).
He wrote, “My prayers Abhishek .. your ability to choose different roles and films and to immerse yourself in them .. and succeed .. a very rare quality .. love and blessings.”

About ‘Kaalidhar Laapata’

Directed by Madhumita, the film features Abhishek as Kaalidhar, a middle-aged man struggling with memory loss and feelings of abandonment. The story takes a turn when he learns that his siblings plan to leave him behind at the crowded Maha Kumbh Mela. Instead of waiting, Kaalidhar decides to disappear on his own.

However, fate introduces him to Ballu, played by Daivik Bhagela—an outspoken, street-smart 8-year-old surviving alone on the streets. What begins as a chance meeting grows into a meaningful relationship. ‘Kaalidhar Laapata’ is set to premiere on ZEE5 on July 4.
