Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Buenos Aires on Saturday for a bilateral visit, the third leg of his five-country tour after Ghana and Trinidad and Tobago. While in Argentina, PM Modi will meet President Javier Milei to have in-depth talks for deepening relations. This is famously the first ever bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Argentina after 57 years.
Expressing the importance of the visit, the Ministry of External Affairs Official Spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, tweeted, “Celebrating the timeless friendship between our countries. PM Narendra Modi has arrived in the pulsating city of Buenos Aires, Argentina on an Official Visit. He was given a ceremonial reception upon arrival at the airport. This is the first ever Indian PM visit to Argentina in 57 years, a new chapter in relations.”
PM Modi himself too posted, “Landed in Buenos Aires for a bilateral visit which will be to expand relations with Argentina. Looking forward to meeting President Javier Milei and having detailed discussions with him.”

PM Modi Arrives in Buenos Aires
PM Modi was given a warm welcome by the Indian community. As he arrived at his hotel in Buenos Aires, members of the Indian diaspora greeted him with spirited chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’, ‘Jai Shree Ram’, and ‘Modi-Modi’.
ANI shared glimpses of these celebrations online, writing, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed with chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’, ‘Jai Shree Ram’ and ‘Modi-Modi’ as he reaches the hotel in Buenos Aires. Members of the Indian diaspora have gathered here.”
Among those were Vijay Kumar Gupta, an Indian resident of Argentina, who explained that he took a long trek solely to greet the prime minister. In an interview with ANI, he disclosed, “I have come from Rosario, which is 400 kilometres away from here, just to greet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I managed to shake hands with him,” as can be observed from a video posted on X by ANI.
Following Argentina, PM Modi will proceed with his diplomatic tour to visit Brazil and Namibia, extending further India’s international outreach.
