US President Donald Trump revealed a record-breaking event on Thursday. He announced an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bout on the grounds of the White House. The fight will be part of next year’s America250 celebrations to commemorate 250 years of American independence.
Addressing a rally at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines on the eve of the Fourth of July, Trump announced the ambitious plans to a crowd that cheered.
“Each of our national park battlefields and historic sites will have special events celebrating ‘America250,’ and I even believe that we are going to have a UFC fight,” Trump stated.
Trump Announces UFC Championship Fight Will Be Hosted at the White House
Trump announced that the fight will be a live, full championship fight featuring between 20,000 to 25,000 spectators. “It’s going to be a championship bout, full bout, like 20,000 to 25,000, and we’re going to do that as part of ‘250’ also,” he stated.

The plan came from Trump’s long-time association with UFC President Dana White, whom he praised in his address. “Does anybody watch UFC? The great Dana White? We’re going to have a UFC fight. We’re going to have a UFC fight — think of this — on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there.”
Trump’s support for UFC dates back to 2001, when the now-closed Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City hosted multiple UFC events during a time the sport struggled for mainstream legitimacy.
Trump’s Celebration Plans Include More Patriotic Events
In addition to the UFC event, Trump outlined a variety of festivities under the America250 banner. “We are going to have some incredible events, some professional events, some amateur events,” he said.
He also announced a “Great American State Fair”, with America250 programming at fairgrounds all over the country, peaking in a big patriotic festival on the National Mall next summer, featuring exhibits from all 50 states.
White House Confirms Trump’s Plans
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed Trump’s plans, reiterating his commitment to the UFC event. “It’s going to be EPIC!” she posted on X.
