Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially left for a major diplomatic mission across five countries. Over the next eight days, he will visit Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia. This trip marks his longest overseas tour in almost 10 years.

Official Statement on the Visit

In a statement released ahead of his departure, the Prime Minister said, “Over the next few days, I will be attending various bilateral, multilateral and other programmes in Ghana, Trinidad & Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia. Looking forward to interacting with world leaders and discussing ways to make our planet better.”

Ghana: The First Stop

Modi’s tour begins in Ghana, making it the first visit by an Indian prime minister in nearly 30 years. This visit aims to strengthen India’s ties with the West African nation and explore new areas of cooperation.

Trinidad and Tobago: Strengthening Caribbean Ties

From Ghana, PM Modi will head to Trinidad and Tobago. This stop is especially significant as it will be the first visit by an Indian leader in 27 years. The trip is expected to boost diplomatic, cultural, and economic engagement with the Caribbean nation.

Argentina: A Landmark Visit

Following his Caribbean stop, Modi will travel to Argentina, invited by President Javier Milei. This will be a historic visit, as it marks the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 57 years. The leaders are likely to discuss trade, energy, and global cooperation.

Brazil: BRICS 2025 Summit

Next, the Prime Minister will attend the BRICS 2025 Summit in Brazil. India, along with Brazil, Russia, China, and South Africa, forms this major international group focused on economic and political collaboration.

Namibia: Final Leg of the Journey

Modi will end his tour in Namibia, making it the first prime ministerial visit in 27 years. During the visit, he will meet President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and also address the Namibian parliament. This visit is expected to reinforce ties and promote partnerships in areas such as wildlife conservation and clean energy.

Modi’s Longest Diplomatic Tour Since 2016

This journey is Prime Minister Modi’s longest international tour in nearly a decade. The last time he traveled to five countries on a single trip was in 2016, when he visited the United States, Mexico, Switzerland, Afghanistan, and Qatar.
