A 45-year-old farmer’s emotional plea for companionship turned into a tragic case of murder and deception. Indrakumar Tiwari, a part-time teacher and farmer from Padwar village in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district, was allegedly murdered by a woman who posed as a potential bride and later killed him to seize his 18-acre farmland.
Tiwari gained online attention after a video of him expressing frustration over not finding a bride went viral during a spiritual discourse by Guru Aniruddhacharya Maharaj. In the clip, Indrakumar lamented having no one to look after his land despite owning substantial property. Instead of advice, the guru and audience responded with light-hearted remarks.
Unfortunately, the video also caught the attention of criminals who saw an opportunity in the farmer’s vulnerability.
Fake Identity, Marriage Trap and Murder
According to Kushinagar SP Santosh Kumar, a woman named Sahiba Bano assumed the identity of Khushi Tiwari and reached out to Indrakumar on social media, proposing marriage. “Khushi Tiwari contacted Indrakumar and proposed marriage to him. He agreed to marry her. The woman then laid a trap along with her associates,” the SP said.
Indrakumar informed his family that he was travelling to Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, to marry Khushi. The two reportedly tied the knot in Gorakhpur, after which he went missing. Days later, on June 6, his body was found in Sukarouli area near National Highway 28, with a knife lodged in his neck.
Robbery and Murder for Land, Gold and Cash
Police suspect the woman and her accomplices murdered Indrakumar to steal his cash and gold, and ultimately seize his ancestral land. “The man reached Gorakhpur and the two got married. His body was found days later…” said the SP.
Fake Aadhaar, Arrest and Probe
Authorities arrested Sahiba Bano, who allegedly created a fake Aadhaar card to pose as a Hindu bride. “Sahiba has been arrested. She had made a fake Aadhaar card as well. Efforts are on to nab the remaining accused. A detailed probe is underway,” the police confirmed.
A coordinated investigation between Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh Police helped solve the case. The police are now working to arrest the remaining suspects involved in the murder conspiracy.
