Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez are ending their nearly two-year engagement with a lavish three-day wedding celebration in Venice, Italy. The celebrations started off with a welcome party in Madonna dell’Orto Church, according to Page Six, before the couple went on to their wedding ceremony on San Giorgio island in the Venetian lagoon on Friday, as per Reuters. Around 200-250 guests are estimated to be joining them in the festivities.

The extravagant party has unleashed widespread interest regarding the expenses. While some accounts put the wedding bill at about $10 million, others put it at higher costs.

About the Ring

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos popped the question to Sánchez in May 2023 with a stunning engagement ring that consists of an enormous pink diamond. Vogue described the ring as having a cushion-cut pink diamond surrounded by four prongs, set between small stones on the band and a pair of pavé halos.

Mike Fried, CEO of The Diamond Pro, told FOX Business that the sparkling gem “looks to be close to 30 carats” based on images he reviewed. “Pink diamonds are extremely rare, one of the rarest in the world,” Fried said. “For several years, pink diamonds were discovered in the Argyle mines in western Australia, but they’ve now closed those mines. It is breathtaking to lay eyes on a pink diamond of that magnitude.”

A Diamond Worth Millions

Fried went on to estimate that Sánchez’s stunning ring would be worth an auction price of ‘about $5 million’ if it were to ever come on the open market, deeming it ‘really one of one’. He went on further to say, “It’s impossible to overstate the rarity of such an unusual pink diamond and a rough diamond that could be cut into a 30-carat polished diamond. Lauren’s ring might be a temporary fashion icon, but it will probably end up in a museum along with other symbolically valuable diamond jewelry collections.”

In an interview with Vogue, Sánchez remembered Bezos proposing in May in a nighttime proposal when he sneakily hid the ring under her pillow. She admitted she ‘blacked out a bit’ when he ‘opened the box’ to propose.
