In a shocking incident of road rage in Uttar Pradesh’s capital, a uniformed police inspector allegedly slapped an Army officer and ran over his foot while fleeing the scene. The incident occurred on Friday at the Telibagh intersection in Lucknow’s PGI police station area and was captured on CCTV, which is now widely circulated on social media.

Army Officer Assaulted in Front of Wife

Lieutenant Colonel Anand Prakash Suman, currently posted at the NCC Directorate in Patna, was passing through Lucknow with his wife after visiting his ancestral village in Hardoi for a relative’s funeral. While navigating traffic, his car narrowly missed colliding with another vehicle coming from the wrong side. When he objected, the vehicle’s driver, a police inspector in uniform allegedly stepped out, abused him, and slapped him in full public view.

The altercation was caught on camera and shows the inspector striking the officer. As Lt Col Suman stepped out of his vehicle, the inspector allegedly fled the scene, running over his foot in the process. The officer sustained injuries and later filed a formal complaint.

FIR Registered, Search On for Accused Inspector

An FIR was registered at PGI police station under relevant sections related to assault, verbal abuse, and causing intentional injury. The police have initiated an investigation and are examining the viral video and other technical evidence to identify and locate the inspector.

The DCP (Central Zone) confirmed, “Given the seriousness of the matter, swift action is being taken. The inspector will be arrested soon.”
