The Canadian rapper is depicted in the video as painted blue, dressed in gold bling, and sporting a red bindi—clearly taking cues from a Hindu goddess. She also invokes a Christian cross in ways that have caused offense among both Hindu and Christian communities.
In one of the most hotly contested scenes, Tommy Genesis licks the cross and holds it close to her derrière, an act many viewers criticized as sacrilegious. The imagery immediately offended, with pundits charging she disrespected religious convictions in order to drum up publicity.
