Multiple Iranian missile strikes have rocked Israel’s southern city of Beer Sheva, causing damage to critical infrastructure, including the Soroka Medical Center, and igniting fires near a tech park housing a Microsoft office, Reuters reported, citing CNN.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after fires broke out on a street adjacent to a major technology zone. Munitions struck several areas in the southern district, Israel Police confirmed. “There was property damage but no reports of casualties,” officials said.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that it intercepted one Iranian missile but acknowledged “several hits” across Beer Sheva.
Beer Sheva Soroka Medical Center Suffers Direct Hit
A direct hit struck the Soroka Medical Center, the largest hospital in southern Israel, according to an IDF statement posted on X. The hospital, with over 1,000 beds, serves nearly one million residents in the Negev region.
The IDF confirmed that the missile barrage caused several hits, including one that struck the largest hospital in southern Israel.
Magen David Adom rescue service reported that the attacks wounded at least 40 people. According to AFP, a hospital spokesperson stated: “We are currently assessing the damage, including injuries. We ask the public not to come to the hospital at this time.”
Israel Activates Nationwide Hospital Emergency Protocols
In response to the ongoing missile threats, hospitals across Israel have activated emergency plans. Hospital staff moved critical patients underground and converted parking garages into makeshift wards to protect those on ventilators and patients who could not be easily relocated.
Beer Sheva, situated in the Negev desert, is also home to Israel’s strategic Nevatim Airbase — a likely factor behind repeated missile targeting of the region.
As tensions escalate between Iran and Israel, authorities have advised the Israeli public to stay alert, and defense forces have kept systems on high readiness.
