Shooting at Surrey Trucking Firm Tied to Nijjar’s Cousin, Bishnoi Gang Suspected

Police are looking into a brazen shooting at a Surrey business belonging to Raghbir Singh Nijjar, the cousin of murdered Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The shooting came just hours following a different attempted vandalism at the premises, raising fears of an extortion campaign linked to Indian gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

Shots Fired at Surrey Just Hours After Vandalism Attempt

Surrey Police Service (SPS) stated that the shooting occurred at approximately 3:00 AM on Thursday, June 19, at a business in the 12800 block of 116 Avenue. Officers discovered numerous bullet casings and established that property damage was caused to buildings and automobiles.

“On June 19 at 3:00 am, SPS Frontline officers were dispatched to a business in the 12800 block of 116 Avenue for a report of a shooting. Officers responded and found several shell casings and property damage to buildings and vehicles,” the SPS said.

No one was injured, although staff were on the scene at the time shots were fired, police said. “Officers concluded that nobody suffered any injuries despite staff being on the scene when shots were fired,” police added.

Business Owner Reports Extortion Threat by Bishnoi Gang

The targeted business is a trucking firm supposedly owned by Raghbir Singh Nijjar, reportedly connected to Hardeep Singh Nijjar — a listed Khalistani terrorist who was killed in British Columbia in June 2023. Raghbir Singh blamed the Lawrence Bishnoi gang for the attack based on a reported extortion threat.

He also made known that the same shooting was directed at his home in August last year, further deepening his conviction that the same criminal gang is behind the attacks.

Police Connect Incidents Under Investigation

The police observed that the shooting occurred barely 24 hours after another attack on the same premises. At 3:50 AM on June 18, unidentified suspects tried to burn vehicles with gasoline but were chased away by in-house security.

SPS’s Frontline Investigative Support Team (FLIST) is working on the case, and officers are actively investigating connections to other crime incidents and possible motives. The investigation continues.
