Police arrested 36-year-old Ayurvedic doctor Vyas Hiral Mohanbhai after she caused a scene on Air India Flight IX2749 from Bengaluru to Surat. She carried two pieces of baggage onto the plane without checking them in and placed one near the crew’s cabin, a restricted area.

When cabin staff asked her to move the bag to her seat’s overhead compartment, she refused and insisted they keep it with her. She allegedly threatened to crash the flight if the crew failed to follow her instructions.
The captain halted boarding, summoned CISF security personnel, and deboarded her, ultimately delaying the flight by two hours.
Police report additional misuse of authority at the airport
At Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), between 2:45 pm and 5:30 pm, the disruption escalated to airport security. This was after the crew and passengers attempted to intervene. After being removed from the plane, Vyas continued to verbally abuse and physically manhandle police officers at the KIA station. A senior officer remarked, “This was the first time we heard such abusive language in the station.”
Her husband, an academic from Odisha, told authorities that she had stopped practicing medicine. He further told that she was heading to Gujarat to visit her family.
He acknowledged her past disruptive behavior in public places. Until police finish verifying her background, she remains in custody. The woman is currently facing charges of disturbing a flight and creating a security risk.
Recent technical issues, bomb threats, delays, and the tragic Air India Dreamliner crash have already left passengers on edge.
