After Israeli missile attacks shook Tel Aviv early Friday, Iran retaliated strongly. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced Operation True Promise 3 late that night.
Iran stated it launched the strike in response to Israel’s Operation Rising Lion, which had earlier hit Iran’s key nuclear and military facilities. These air raids killed several top commanders, forcing Iran to replace them quickly.
Dozens of Israeli Targets Hit
In a statement shared by Tasnim News Agency, Iran said its operation targeted “dozens of sites, military centres, and air bases of the usurping Zionist regime in the occupied territories.”
The IRGC described the counterattack as a “crushing, precise response” to Israel’s actions. According to Iran, the previous Israeli strikes had killed high-ranking officers, “prominent scientists and innocent citizens, especially children.”
Iran Condemns Israeli Actions
Iran strongly condemned Israel’s air raids. It called them “an assault and aggressive action of the bloodthirsty, child-killing terrorist Zionist regime” against parts of “Islamic Iran.”
Moreover, the IRGC stated the mission was powered by faith, leadership, and public support. The statement said the operation was carried out “with reliance on divine power, the wise guidance of the Supreme Commander of the Forces and the unified demand and support of the noble Iranian nation.”
Launch Code Honors Religious Symbolism
The IRGC launched the retaliation under a spiritual phrase.
It said the operation began “with the sacred code ‘Ya Ali ibn Abi Talib’ on the blessed night of Eid al-Ghadir.”
They promised to release more information soon.
“Details of this operation will be announced to the noble Iranian nation in the next statement,” it added.
Iran Loses Top Commanders in Israeli Strikes
Earlier on Friday, Israeli attacks inside Tehran had deadly consequences.
Among the killed were:
-
IRGC Chief Hossein Salami
-
Armed Forces Chief Mohammad Bagheri
-
Several other senior Iranian military leaders
Israel acknowledged Iran’s counterattack. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said, “A short while ago, the IDF identified missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel. Defense systems are operating to intercept the threat.”
Hundreds of Missiles Fired
By Friday evening, Iran launched hundreds of ballistic missiles at Israel. State-run Iranian media confirmed this was the beginning of Iran’s major retaliation.
This attack followed a warning from Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who had pledged revenge.
He said, “The powerful hand of the Islamic Republic’s armed forces will not let it go.”
