Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has strongly condemned Israel’s recent airstrikes on Tehran, calling them a “criminal act” and warning that Israel will face “severe punishment” for its actions. His remarks came in an official statement released Friday morning through Iran’s state-run news agency, IRNA.
According to the statement, the Israeli attack resulted in the deaths of several senior Iranian military commanders and scientists. The airstrikes reportedly hit both residential areas and key nuclear and military facilities in the Iranian capital.
“Israel opened its wicked and blood-stained hand to a crime in our beloved country, revealing its malicious nature more than ever by striking residential centres,” Khamenei said.
He further warned, “With this crime, the Zionist regime has set itself up for a bitter and painful fate, and it will receive it.”
This latest escalation follows weeks of growing tensions between the two rivals, with analysts warning that the region may be on the brink of a broader conflict.
