Kajol has raised serious concerns about the increasingly aggressive paparazzi culture in Bollywood, calling it both “disrespectful” and “disturbing.” In a recent interview, she pointed out that celebrity privacy continues to erode as photographers track actors across the city and even at sensitive public events.

The actress emphasised that such behaviour not only violates personal space but also disregards social context. Her remarks come amid growing industry-wide frustration over how the media covers celebrities in both professional and private moments.

Kajol criticises paparazzi for chasing actors everywhere

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Kajol shared her honest thoughts about the discomfort celebrities face because of paparazzi attention. She expressed her concern over the lack of respect for private moments. “I am a little conscious of the paps. I think there are certain places where they shouldn’t be. Like, I find it very strange when they run after actors at someone’s funeral and ask for photos. I find that odd and a little disrespectful. I find it strange that you cannot even go for lunch,” she said.

Kajol also mentioned how her daily movements are constantly tracked. “They follow you for kilometres—from Juhu to Bandra—to see where I am going and which building I am entering. I find that disturbing,” she said. She added that if she were not a celebrity, she could’ve filed a police complaint for being followed this way. However, since she’s in the public eye, such behaviour is often tolerated.

More celebrities speak out on paparazzi behaviour

Kajol is not alone in feeling this way. Several other celebrities have also expressed their frustration with how far photographers go to get pictures. Alia Bhatt strongly opposed the publication of private photos taken of her from a neighbouring building. Rana Daggubati confronted paparazzi at an airport, and Unni Mukundan was seen grabbing a photographer’s phone for getting too close. Jaya Bachchan has also repeatedly criticised media intrusion.

While the attention may be part of stardom, many stars now believe there should be limits, especially when it affects their mental peace and personal boundaries.

Meanwhile, Kajol is set to appear in the upcoming film Maa, directed by Vishal Furia. The film also stars Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, and Kherin Sharma, and it will hit theatres on June 27.
