Just hours after BTS member Jungkook completed his mandatory military service in South Korea, a woman tried to break into his home. The police caught a Chinese woman in her 30s attempting to enter the singer’s Seoul apartment around 11:20 p.m. local time (14:00 GMT) on Wednesday.

Witnesses saw her pressing random numbers on the building’s digital lock. During questioning, she admitted that she had flown to South Korea specifically to see Jungkook. Authorities arrested her on the spot for trespassing.

BTS Members Reunite, Fans Celebrate Comeback Hopes

Jungkook was among four BTS members who completed their military service this week, sparking excitement across the BTS fandom. With all seven members expected to finish their service by the end of this month, fans are hopeful for a group reunion. BTS had gone on hiatus in 2022, at the peak of their international success.

To mark the milestone, hundreds of BTS fans gathered outside Hybe’s Seoul headquarters. Many wore purple—the group’s symbolic color—and held banners and photos celebrating the band’s return.

Jungkook expressed his appreciation to the fans, saying: “I didn’t even put on makeup,” and added that he felt “a bit embarrassed” about being back in the public eye after such a long time away.

Why Did Jungkook And Other BTS Members Serve Military Time?

South Korean law requires all able-bodied men between 18 and 28 to serve nearly two years in the military. While exceptions are sometimes made for classical musicians and Olympic medal winners, BTS was not officially exempt.

A major debate had previously erupted in the country. It was over whether the globally successful group should be allowed to skip service. Supporters argued that BTS had already served their country by contributing billions to the economy. Hence, they should be allowed to continue.

Eventually, in 2020, South Korea’s parliament passed a bill allowing BTS members to defer enlistment until age 30. Jin, the eldest, enlisted in 2022, followed by the others.
