Prime Minister Narendra Modi will likely receive members of the multi-party delegations who have been holding out to global leaders to expound India’s stance after the Pahalgam terror strike and the follow-up Operation Sindoor.

Sources told CNN-News18 that the meeting will most probably be taken in Delhi on either June 9 or 10, where the delegations will report to the Prime Minister on the outreach efforts, key diplomatic exchanges, and global response received.

To the Pahalgam attack, the BJP-led government at the centre responded by setting up seven all-party delegations to travel to 33 world capitals. Their mission: mobilize international opinion against terrorism and reaffirm India’s “zero-tolerance” policy. These groups consisted of Members of Parliament from different parties, senior political leaders, and veteran diplomats.

MPs Heads of the Delegations

The seven groups were headed by:

  • Shashi Tharoor (Congress)
  • Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP)
  • Sanjay Kumar Jha (JDU)
  • Baijayant Jay Panda (BJP)
  • Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (DMK)
  • Supriya Sule (NCP)
  • Shrikant Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena)

There were a total of 59 members in the delegations—31 from the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and 20 from others. Former diplomats were also included in the delegations to add heft to outreach.

Saudi Arabia Avows Support

One of the most unequivocal voices of support came from Saudi Arabia. The delegation, meeting with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir, had a discussion on Riyadh’s firm stand against terrorism.

The Indian Embassy in Riyadh reported on X, “The delegation appreciated Saudi stand against terrorism and underscored India’s strong position, including its zero-tolerance and ‘new normal’ approach toward terrorism.”

Head of the delegation Baijayant Panda referred to the conversation as “meaningful,” and penned, “India and Saudi Arabia share a dynamic partnership rooted in trust, shared interests, and a growing strategic bond.”

Support from Other Nations

The countries welcomed positive feedback from the delegations. Italy proposed strengthening bilateral relations, Indonesia expressed support for India’s anti-terror position on all international platforms, and South Africa praised the zero-tolerance policy of India. France reaffirmed its solidarity with New Delhi in the international war against terror.

Baijayant Panda-led delegation, who visited Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria, is to return to India from Algeria tomorrow morning, with arrival at about 8:30 AM.
