The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out raids at 15 locations across eight Indian states on Saturday. These operations are part of an ongoing probe into a Pakistan-linked espionage case, as per reports.
States Targeted in the Operation
The agency searched homes of people suspected of working with Pakistani intelligence agents. The raids took place in Delhi, Mumbai (Maharashtra), Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Assam, and West Bengal.
Evidence Seized During Raids
During these searches, NIA officials seized electronic gadgets, financial records, and other suspicious items. Now, they are examining these materials for proof of a spy network allegedly run by Pakistan-based agents.
Focus on a CRPF Jawan
This case mainly involves Moti Ram Jat, a former jawan of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Investigators found that he had been sharing secret information with Pakistani intelligence officers.
Shocking Payment for Sensitive Data
Surprisingly, he gave away this classified information for just ₹3,500 per month. He had been tricked by a Pakistani agent who posed as a journalist.
Eventually, the CRPF dismissed Jat from his post after confirming his involvement in the leak.
