A strong earthquake measuring 6.4 magnitude struck Afghanistan on Wednesday, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported. The quake was recorded at a depth of 121 km (75 miles) beneath the earth’s surface.
While tremors were reportedly felt across several parts of the region, no immediate reports of damage or injuries have surfaced.
The region lies in a seismically active zone, and earthquakes of varying magnitudes are not uncommon. The deep depth of this tremor may have reduced its destructive impact on the surface.
