A medical transport helicopter crashed in Mississippi on Monday, carrying a pilot and two hospital workers. According to reports, officials confirmed the accident.
Meanwhile, the AirCare helicopter was not transporting any patients when it went down in Madison County, north of Jackson. The University of Mississippi Medical Center acknowledged the crash but did not share details about injuries or fatalities.
Additionally, local television station WAPT reported that at least one person had died. Soon after, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) sent officials to investigate the scene.
A Series of Aviation Disasters in North America
Notably, this crash adds to a growing list of recent aviation accidents in North America. Over the past month, four major crashes have taken place across the region.
For instance, a Delta jet recently flipped onto its roof while landing in Toronto. Similarly, a commuter plane crashed in Alaska, killing multiple people.
Just last week, a private jet owned by Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil veered off a runway in Arizona. As a result, it collided with a business jet, killing one of the two pilots.
Furthermore, on January 31, another tragedy struck when a medical transport jet crashed into a Philadelphia neighborhood. The plane carried a child patient, her mother, and four others. Upon impact, it exploded, setting nearby homes on fire. Unfortunately, all seven people on board lost their lives, while 19 others sustained injuries.
Given these incidents, authorities continue to investigate the causes of these crashes.
