Unbelievable: Drunk Man Sleeping On Track Gets Hit By Train In Peru

In a baffling incident in Ate, Lima province, 28-year-old Juan Carlos Tello, found asleep along train tracks, was struck by a cargo train on Saturday—but miraculously survived with only minor injuries to his left arm. Authorities reported that Tello, apparently intoxicated, did not notice the train approaching during its regular run toward the Peruvian Andes, allowing him to be hit without sustaining fatal damage.

Incident and Immediate Response

General Javier Avalos, a security official for Ate, told AFP, “The train knocked him over but through some miracle did not kill him.” Surveillance footage released by the city shows the locomotive dragging Tello for several meters along the tracks before the train came to a halt. Emergency services quickly attended to him, and he was treated for minor injuries.

A Pattern of Accidents on the Line

This near-tragic incident is not isolated on this train route. In August 2024, another accident on the same line claimed the life of a young man who, while distracted by headphones, was fatally struck by a cargo train. The recurring accidents along this stretch of track have raised concerns about safety measures and the need for improved vigilance by commuters.
