A devastating incident in Agra has left the community in shock. TCS recruitment manager Manav Sharma was found dead after taking his own life. His family claims that prolonged marital discord and alleged harassment by his wife played a significant role in his tragic decision.

Incident Details

On the morning of February 24, Manav Sharma was discovered hanging in his Agra residence. His family, distraught by the sudden loss, initially attempted to report the incident to Sadar Police. However, they allege that officers turned them away, citing duties related to the Maha Shivratri celebrations. Frustrated by the lack of immediate support, the family subsequently escalated the matter through the Chief Minister’s portal. Later that night, Sadar police registered a case based on a WhatsApp complaint and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Emotional Final Message

Before his death, Sharma recorded a nearly seven-minute video that has since become a focal point in understanding his state of mind. In this heartrending message, he pleaded with authorities to “think and talk about men” and openly blamed his wife for contributing to his distress. With a cloth wrapped around his neck and another secured to a fan, Sharma’s video revealed his deep anguish and feelings of abandonment. He admitted to previous suicide attempts, displaying scars on his wrists as evidence of his ongoing battle with despair. In his final words, he apologised to his parents and urged, “Please think about the men in your life. They are very lonely.”

Family’s Account of a Troubled Marriage

Narendra Kumar Sharma, a retired Air Force officer and Manav’s father, described the family’s ordeal as stemming from a deeply troubled marriage. According to him, frequent altercations and recurring threats of false legal action by his daughter-in-law had created an unbearable environment for Manav. Just a day before the tragedy, Manav had traveled from Mumbai to Agra with his wife, dropping her off at her parents’ home—a move that his father believes was part of the escalating domestic issues that ultimately led to his son’s extreme decision.

The case of Manav Sharma is a stark reminder of the devastating consequences that unresolved marital discord and mental health struggles can have on individuals. As the investigation unfolds, authorities and mental health advocates are calling for better support systems to prevent such heartbreaking losses in the future.
