Local farmers and khap leaders in Haryana’s Jind district expressed their support for Neelam Azad, who was arrested in connection with the recent Parliament security breach. Three additional arrests have been made in the case. Following a meeting in Uchana town, Azad Singh Palwa, a local farmer leader, informed that if Azad is not released, and the anti-terror Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) charges against her are not dropped, they will convene a state-level meeting of farmers and khap leaders. The four accused individuals are facing charges under the UAPA. Palwa stated that Neelam Azad had been a visitor to the protest site at Khatkar Kalan toll plaza in Jind district during the 2021 agitation against the three farm laws. Palwa serves as a Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) leader in Haryana.
