Now save Rs 200 on monthly passes of CTU non-AC buses

Starting from December 16, non-AC bus fares will be applicable in 160 AC buses of the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU). The directive was issued by the Director of the Transport Department, Pradyuman Singh, on Thursday. These orders will remain in effect until February 15, 2024. After this period, separate fares will be implemented for AC and non-AC buses.
According to the Transport Department, the 80 electric and 80 CNG midi buses of CTU do not have heating systems. As winter sets in, the air conditioning in all AC buses is turned off, and these buses lack heating systems as well. Therefore, similar to every year, from December 16 to February 15, non-AC bus fares will be applied to these 160 AC buses.
The Transport Department has issued orders in this regard, bringing relief to commuters. People who travel daily by buses usually obtain monthly passes. They will benefit from a unified fare, saving them Rs 200, as the monthly pass for AC buses costs Rs 900, while for non-AC buses, it is Rs 700. Government employees and students obtaining passes will also experience advantages. In addition, daily pass costs will be Rs 15 cheaper for passengers. However, after February 15, separate fares will be applied again to AC and non-AC buses as AC operation resumes in CTU buses.
