In a high-speed collision on the US Garden near Panchkula Road, a private bus, filled with passengers, collided with a moving tipper. The impact was so severe that passengers on the crowded bus fell onto each other, with some sustaining injuries from pipes in front of the seats.
A total of 33 passengers were injured in the accident and were rushed to the trauma center in the city for treatment. Doctors referred five of them to PGIMER Chandigarh and GMCH-32 for further medical attention. The extent of injuries could be more severe than initially reported.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, a large police force reached the scene and actively participated in the rescue operation with the commuters. Around 11 ambulances were used to transport the moaning patients to the hospital. The driver of the tipper fled the scene after the accident. Local police have initiated an investigation into the matter. Observing the deteriorating conditions of the passengers, Anu (33), Mandip Singh (30), an unidentified woman (50), Anil Kumar (35) were referred to PGIMER Chandigarh, while Mahendra Kumar (65) was referred to GMCH-32. A case is being prepared to file charges against the bus driver for negligence.
The overcrowded private bus, traveling from Narayangarh to Ambala City, collided with a moving tipper on Panchkula Road around 2 PM. With over 70 passengers in a 52-seat bus, most were standing, resulting in severe injuries when the collision occurred during an overtaking maneuver. Of the 32 patients taken to the hospital, some may choose private healthcare. Notable injuries include Fauja (50), Radhika (18), Sakshi (21), and others from different locations.
Among the injured, Komal (27) expressed regret for missing her Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) at PKR Jain School. Palak (23) and Sakshi (21) were also set to take their final exams. Despite post-accident attempts to reach the exam venue, injuries prevented their participation. Additionally, Praveen Kumar (45) arranged for his daughter-in-law Nisha’s HTET exam; she went to take the exam after minor injuries.
Komal, Palak, and Sakshi, along with others, could not participate in their scheduled exams due to the accident. The police, led by Inspector Vikrant from Panchkula Police Station, are currently investigating the severity of the incident.
