Two suspects were arrested after a brief exchange of gunfire with the police in the Yamuna Khadar area near Metro Yard on Sunday morning, according to the police.
During the exchange of fire, one of the suspects sustained bullet injuries and was subsequently arrested, along with his accomplice, a minor, after a brief chase by the police, they added.
The arrested suspects were identified as Akki, also known as Sumit (30), a resident of Harsh Vihar, Delhi, and another individual who is a minor. The duo was involved in a shooting incident that occurred in O Block under the Welcome police station on the night of November 27.
Between the nights of November 27 and 28, Welcome police station received a PCR call regarding gunfire in O Block. Upon investigation, it was found that two men had arrived on a scooter and fired shots outside the house of Abrar Ahmed (45), a scrap dealer. Three empty shells were discovered at the scene; however, no one was injured in the incident.
Later, Abrar Ahmed informed the police that he had received a call on his mobile phone demanding Rs 50 lakhs, and the caller claimed to represent the Hashim Baba gang.
In response, the police filed an FIR and initiated a search for the suspects. On December 3, around 3:20 am, a police team intercepted two suspects near 3rd Pushta, Yamuna Khadar, near Metro Yard. The suspects were on a white scooter.
